Daniel G. Freedman, a psychologist at the University of Chicago who pioneered the perspective that both biological and evolutionary viewpoints are required for full understanding of the complex diversity of human behavior, died Tuesday, June 10 at his home in Ribera, New Mexico. He was 81.

The Chicago memorial will begin at 10 a.m. on Sunday, August 31st. There is a circle of stone benches on the north side of the "point" between the path and the lake (see map.) We are hoping that we can get there early enough to reserve that space. There will be a few readings, some music, time for reflection and some time will be allowed for anyone to say something if they would like. Each person will be given some of Dan's ashes to spread where they choose on the "point." Cold drinks and snacks will be available after the service.

Memorial services to be held in NM and Chicago

We are planning on having two memorial services for Dan. One in Chicago on Sunday, August 31st. The other in NM on Saturday, September 20. Both will be informal as Dan would want. All who are inclined are welcome to attend. We are still working out the details but we will most likely let people say a few words if they would like, spread some of his ashes and then have a get together somewhere nearby.
